FUSION EXTENSIONS AFTER CARE AND BEFORE INSTALLATION

Always make sure your hair is washed and oil free before installation. No moisturizers, hair food or serum before installation.

Also make sure your hair is dry and straight before installation

Our hair is 100% human hair thus has versatile options for styling. However to maintain your hair extensions and extend life span of your extensions and hair style a proper hair care regime should be followed.

After care of hair extensions is important, to avoid bond slippage, drying of hair extensions leading to tangling, matting, breakage and shedding.

Always keep in mind that buying all the right and expensive products for your hair will not guarantee great results if you are doing all the wrong things with them. Follow instructions verbatim and you will attain results.

Failure to follow instructions can be disastrous and leave you with a mop on your head and you looking for a scape goat to blame..eg. The after care product you bought doesn’t work, the way my hair extensions were installed was wrong, the hair I bought is bad quality. Of which in most cases this is not the case, read the following document, take a step back and look into your after care regime, did you misfire somewhere?

Do not wash your hair 2-3 days after installation to allow the bond to set. ( Please ensure you follow this diligently, do not experiment wanting to see the results)

Shedding of hair will occur as bond sets but should stop within a few days after installation as bond has set. This should not alarm you…please not extensions can shed from time to time just like your own natural hair.

Brush hair out completely before entering shower and before bed time and cover hair with a satin cover or use a satin pillow case when sleeping to avoid friction, matting and tangling preferably put hair in a plait or bun before bed.

Wash 2 times a week or less and not extra to avoid drying your extensions out.

(If you have washed your hair more than once a week after you got your extensions, you are probably over washing it, factor in you had to wait 3days from day of installation. Results can be damaging and dying to your hair extensions)

Do not wash your hair upside down, wash it while upright.

(This will cause your hair to matte and tangle)

Use good quality shampoo and conditioner, stay away from ones that contain sulphur and alcohol as it breaks down and weakens the bond faster than desired.

(This also could cause your locks to dry out) **USE SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS LABELED SULPHATE FREE/ALCOHOL EVEN YOUR NATURAL HAIR WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!

Wash your whole head and hair but do not apply conditioner or shampoo (wash out or leave in) to the bond as this may soften or loosen bonds. Apply conditioners/oils just along the mid shaft of the hair to the ends.

Wash with luke warm water and after conditioner always use cold water for final rinse.

Use thermal heat protection solution when heat styling hair to protect it from heat damage. Do not apply direct heat to the bond whether when blow drying or straightening as this will melt the bond causing slippage.

Avoid salt water and chlorine water. Wear a swimming cap.

Do not allow scalp to become too greasy as this will cause sweating and slippage. It is important to keep the scalp free of heavy oil. ( If you do not like frequently washing invest in a good dry shampoo and apple cider vinegar mixed with water to spray on scalp to avoid dandruff)

Keep oil or silicone products away from bonds or rings.(apply only along the length of your hair extensions)

Use an extension brush/soft bristle brush for your extensions. Detangle and brush from bottom to up.

Firmly hold hair just below bonds when detangling or brushing to prevent excess tugging on the extensions. Brush or detangle from bottom to top.

Do not scrub or scrunch hair while washing or towel drying.

Keep extensions and hair well moisturised with a leave in conditioner and good moisturiser…(Do not moisturise the bond itself)

Do not put perm or hair dye on the bond.

***Bond- This is the keratin adhesive that holds the extensions to your hair.

FAQ

My hair extensions are dry but I am using all the right products and not using heat!

-Drying of hair extensions is caused by lots of factors. Even when you use all the right products. For example, if you have flu and go to a doctor, his diagnosis is correct, he gives you the correct medication but you go home and instead of taking it 4 times a day, after meals with plenty of fluids, you take it once a day, with a quarter glass of water after eating 1 grape! Will you get better? No! The problem is not with the diagnosis, the doctor or the medicine. Its not following instructions.

This is why 2 people will get same hair extensions, from identical place, get it installed identically, and use basically identical after care products but one will have the perfect hair extension experience while the other has hair that is dry, brittle or matting and shedding.

Also weather can affect the state of your hair! Yep!

Do not treat hair extensions as if they were your own natural hair, they are different. Your hair has a natural source of oil from your scalp yet your hair extensions do not.

They rely solely on the nourishment you provide and the regime you follow.

-Your extensions require more than a wash and go system. Just washing and putting on a leave in conditioner is not enough.

Use a moisturizer, and a seal in agent. The moisturizer you buy should have aqua/water as an ingredient! If it does not it is not moisturizing your hair.

After applying moisturizer put in a sealing in agent to lock in all the moisture, use any natural oil of your choice, arghan, morrocan, olive oil etc

-Get a hair mask to treat your hair once a week. Or a good deep conditioner treatment.

- Moisturizing your hair is not a one time event, follow a good régime, give your hair 20minutes of your time daily, it is worth it.

-Air drying your hair is good!

Make sure your own hair and the hair extensions are not matted or in a knot before air drying.

Make sure your hair extensions are well moisturized before air drying.

Air will not magically straighten your hair or unknot it, so make sure to have a wide comb nearby and continuously keep the state of your hair extensions in check as you air dry it, or else if you just do a wash and go- air will sort it stance you will end up with a rats nest on your head.

If you wish you could minimise heat, by partly blow drying to take out the knots and then air drying after hair is in right state.

-Use an anti-frizz serum to control hair during the day(we suggest Oh-so heavenly anti frizz spray as it moisturizes and keeps hair from matting and tangling)

My bonds are breaking down and slipping out should I be worried?

It is normal to loose strands as time progresses this should not let you be alarmed. Keep every strand that falls out for your touch up as they can be put back.

The bond is sensitive and requires careful attention and care. Please take extra precaution with the bond!

-Avoid salty water and chlorine water in your extensions.

-When basing your hair, do not put oil or grease near or on the bond.

-Do not put conditioner on bond.

-Do not tag and pull aggressively when brushing or combing.

-Avoid sulphate and alcohol base products.

I think I did something wrong, my hair is a knotted mess, is it too late to save my hair extensions?

Fortunately no. You can take care of it and then follow the correct after care regime to avoid same problems

You need

1.Patience

2.Detangling comb (double detangler works best. Do not use a brush!)

3. Deep conditioner

4.Detangler spray

-Use a deep conditioner treatment to soak in your hair.(mayonnaise treatment, ultra cholesterol)

Put this in the hair not on the bond. Let it seat. A whole day perhaps depending on the seriousness of your knots.

-After the sock take a detangling comb and spray. Spritz the hair and start working out the knots while supporting the bonds. Do it a little at a time, and take a break when you need one. Tiring yourself will give you frustration.

-After all knots are out, rinse your hair with cold water, moisturize, seal in and dry your hair while combing gently.

(Avoid whatever done before to cause the tangling)

When I wash my hair extensions they bleed color, what is causing this?

Hair extensions when sourced from donors, they are treated and some colors brightened. It is normal for color to bleed as product washes out in the first two or three washes, this should not alarm you. However some shampoos(with sulphate and over hot water can wash out colors) especially unnatural colors for example Red, pink, green, blue maroon and pitch/midnight black.

Devote time and good regime to your hair. Oil treat/ deep condition your hair extensions, middle shaft to hair ends once every week or two weeks.

Your hair deserves it.
